Volunteer's Role Descriptions

Admin Assistant 

Reports to: Administrative Services Manager 

Division / Department: Administration Department, Ground Floor

Days of Volunteering: Sunday to Thursday 

Allocated Volunteering Hours: 09:00AM to 12:00PM

Purpose of Volunteering:

  • Carries out administrative duties such as translating, filing, typing, copying, binding, scanning, etc. 

  • Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, faxes, and forms 

  • Cover the reception desk when required 

  • Photocopy and print out documents on behalf of other colleagues 

  • Organize and maintain files and databases in a confidential manner 

Outcomes:

  • Social engagement reduces feelings of loneliness or isolation. It increases feelings of social connectedness and encourages the service user to participate and interact with the activities. 

Persons Served:

  • KSH Staff

  • Adults with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) 

Outline of Responsibilities:

  • Follow policies and procedures 

  • Report issues, concerns or incidents to staff, if any arise 

Boundaries and Limitations:

  • No personal care or attendant care 

  • No administering of medications 

  • No accepting gifts from residents, unless approved of by staff 

  • No outside food or drinks to be given to the residents, unless approval from staff is given 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required:

Art Assistant

Reports to: Art Unit

Division / Department: Community Department

Days of Volunteering: Monday to Wednesday & Saturday

Allocated Volunteering Hours: 09:30AM to 12:30PM or 04:00PM to 06:00PM

Purpose of Volunteering:

  • Giving the clients and residents' inclusion together with the assistance of the art teacher and the art assistant. 

  • Assisting with art activities 

  • Interacting with residents and clients 

  • Bring artistic ideas 

  • Participate in art expeditions 

Persons Served:

  • Adults with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) 

Outline of Responsibilities:

  • Follow policies and procedures 

  • Report issues, concerns or incidents to staff, if any arise

Caregiver Assistant

Reports to: Caregiver Coordinator

Division / Department: Residential Care Department

Days of Volunteering: Monday – Wednesday – Thursday

Allocated Volunteering Hours: 06:00AM to 09:00AM or 4:00PM to 7:00PM

Purpose of Volunteering:

  • For those living with a disability, companionship and social interaction can be life changing. Caregiver assistant role is to provide extra help and support to the resident alongside the caregiver with daily living needs the resident is unable to do for themselves alone. 

  • To help and assist caregivers with their duties and learn the routine of how to care for an individual with PMLD. 

  • Engage with residents socially 

  • Supervising and assisting residents in activities 

  • Assist residents on regular outings and trips 

  • Light laundry folding of the residents clothing 

  • Assisting with meal and snack times with supervision 

  • Taking residents to and from departments 

  • Assist with basic personal care: brushing hair, washing face, dressing

Classroom Helper

Reports to: Rehabilitation Unit Team Leader

Division / Department: Rehabilitation Department, Class of Physical Disabilities

Days of Volunteering: Sunday to Wednesday

Allocated Volunteering Hours: 09:00AM to 12:00PM

Purpose of Volunteering:

  • Photography and videography 

  • Copywriting, proofreading, translations test 

  • Graphic designing 

  • Networking and public speaking 

  • Assist the teacher with prepping activities 

  • Help the children to interact with the activities 

  • Interacting with the children 

  • Supervise the classroom with us 

Outcomes:

Friendly Visitor 

Reports to: Residential Care Matron

Division / Department: Residential Care Department

Days of Volunteering: Sunday to Thursday

Allocated Volunteering Hours: 09:00AM to 12:00PM or 04:00PM to 07:00PM

Purpose of Volunteering:

  • Visiting the residents regularly, offering consistency 

  • Assist and help residents with activities 

  • Follow the activity board plan to help set up activities when needed 

  • Assist residents on regular outings and trips 

  • Interact with residents to promote social engagement 

  • Sharing and showing your talents with the resident (if you have any) 

Outcomes:

  • Social engagement reduces feelings of loneliness or isolation. It increases feelings of social connectedness and encourages the service user to participate and interact with the activities.
